Echo: Maya Lopez - Concept Comic Art

I'm Ill and not up to much at the moment (boo!), but I thought I'd share with you something that I recently created. Here's my concept comic cover for Marvel's Echo: Maya Lopez. Marvel fans would have seen Maya's MCU debut - wonderfully portrayed by Alaqua Cox in the Hawkeye series, but her first comic appearance was in 1999, in Daredevil #9.

In the comic books, Maya Lopez, aka Echo is Cheyenne Native American. In real life, Alaqua is part of the Menominee and Mohican Native American Nations, and like her comic book counterpart, Alaqua is deaf. A massive step forward for authentic #Representation in the #MCU. Would you believe that Hawkeye was Alaqua’s acting debut? Not to mention she’s now set to be the lead in her own spin off..

Keeping true to her character in the comics, for this concept cover, I gave her the handprint on her face.

I can't wait to see what showrunner Marion Dayre does with such an important and badass character!
