START THE WAVE eco merch - art journal / sketchbook
These one-of-a-kind journals have been hand crafted by me using recycled materials, and individually customised with cover art – making each one completely unique! Images show the front and back covers.
Each journal has 60 leaves (120 blank pages/sides) of heavyweight (170 gsm) cartridge paper - perfect for journaling, sketching, recording or just keeping notes - whatever magic you have to note down, you can put it in here!
Each book has been bound by hand using a sturdy Coptic stitch (an ancient Egyptian technique), with a blue waxed thread which leaves the spine exposed and allows the book to lie flat when open - Handy for artists!
Each cover (front and back!) has been individually customised with my own art, which I have created using torn paintings, pages from my sketchbooks, other found papers, acrylic paints and inks. No two will ever be the same.
A lot of time and love has gone into the crafting of these books, and I hope that shows!
PRODUCT DETAILS:
Size: A5 / 5.8x8.3” approx. 10.5x14.8 cm
Pages: 120 blank/unlined sides, 170gsm 100% recycled cartridge paper (50% of which is manufactured from recycled coffee cup waste. This process involves the extraction of pulp from the plastic layers in takeaway coffee cups - waste which would otherwise be destined for landfill.
Cover: 1.5mm 100% recycled board featuring one-of-a-kind collage art by Hayley (me!). (Assembled with vegan friendly PVA)
Binding: Coptic bound by hand with waxed thread. 100% recycled thread with vegan friendly wax made from natural plant oils.
60% from the sale of these journals will be donated to Start the Wave to help fund positive change.
In line with the Start the Wave eco merch ethos, and in an effort to further reduce the environmental impact of my work, these journals will be sent in re-used/recycled/eco-friendly packaging. I will only be shipping within 4400km/ 2734 miles of my current location in Sheffield, UK. Purchases made from outside of this area will be cancelled and refunded. Thank you for your understanding.
